Pendulum's Rob Swire learnt to play drums in Africa
Posted on 20 Sep 2010 18:59 to category : Band / Celebrity News

Pendulum frontman Rob Swire has revealed he learnt to play the drums when he lived in Zimbabwe as a child.
Swire originally grew up in Australia but his father took their family to live in Harare for five years, leading to a musical education for the Pendulum man.
He told the Daily Mirror: "I first started learning drums from African tutors in Zimbabwe, influenced by a lot of traditional local drumming. It was a lot different to learning in junior school."
Swire added that his formative experiences may have contributed to Pendulum's current sound, which he said is chasing a similarly "primal" reaction from the audience.
The star added that the band enjoy switching between genres as they get bored with sticking to the same formula.
Pendulum have a variety of live dates and DJ sets on the cards for the next few months, with their schedule due to include visits to countries such as Austria, Luxembourg, Germany, Italy and Switzerland.
