Peavey founder looks back on company's history
The man behind Peavey amps has looked back on his company's past.
Peavey is celebrating its 45th anniversary this year and Hartley Peavey told the WTOK website that he had no real idea what he was getting into when he founded the musical equipment manufacturer back in the 1960s.
He explained that he was a frustrated musician, but was talented at making equipment.
"I started out making guitar and bass amps, and I went out and tried to sell them," Peavey recalled, noting that his business really took off when he designed his first sound system.
The businessman explained: "I put it together, went out and they sold like hotcakes."
Peavey said this was the point he realised he was on to something good with his company.
