Paul Simon reveals he dislikes Bob Dylan comparisons
The great Paul Simon has said that he dislikes being compared to the equally famous Bob Dylan.
The acoustic guitar player revealed that he usually came in second to the esteemed Dylan and he didn't like "coming second" to the singer.
Simon, who is best known for being one half of the music duo Simon & Garfunkel, famous for songs like The Sound of Silence, Mrs Robinson and Bridge Over Troubled Water, was airing his views to Rolling Stone magazine.
He said: "One of my deficiencies is my voice sounds sincere. I've tried to sound ironic. I don't. I can't. Dylan, everything he sings has two meanings. He's telling you the truth and making fun of you at the same time. I sound sincere every time."
He also told the music magazine that he had asked Dylan, who he had last toured with in 1999, to duet with him on his latest album So Beautiful Or So What and didn't get a reply.
Simon & Garfunkel first got together in 1957 and were initially called Tom & Jerry. Their first big hit came with The Sound of Silence which was featured in the film The Graduate starring Dustin Hoffman and Anne Bancroft.Posted on 13 May 2011 18:25 to category : Band / Celebrity News
