Paul McCartney praised by electric guitar player

Sir Paul McCartney's musical versatility has been singled out for praise by one of his band members.

br /> Rusty Anderson has been playing electric guitar with the former Beatle since 2001 and has appeared on several of his albums during this time.

However, he noted that Sir Paul is more than a competent guitarist himself and can comfortably play a wide variety of instruments, including bass guitar, keyboards and the drum kit.

Speaking to MusicRadar, he said he could not allow himself to be intimidated by Sir Paul's wide musical ability when they first worked together, or "I would have choked".

"He's a great guitar player, bass player - he can play drums, keyboards - you name it," Anderson commented.

Sir Paul has demonstrated his versatility on many occasions throughout his career, as he played all the instruments on his very first solo album back in 1970.

Earlier in his career, he played the drum kit on a number of Beatles songs, including Dear Prudence and Back in the USSR, as well as piano on tracks such as Hey Jude and Let It Be.
