Paul McCartney pledges to help fix Motown piano

Beatles legend Sir Paul McCartney does his bit to restore famous piano.

Sir Paul McCartney might just have got hitched for the third time but he’s not letting married life affect his music activities as he’s pledged to help restore a piano.

The Beatles legend is to help fix an 1877 Steinway grand piano that was played by some of the biggest names in Motown music.

McCartney first came across the piano in earlier this year in July when he visited the Motown Historical Museum.

The piano will be picked up and taken to Steinway and Sons’ New York base, where it will be painstakingly brought back to its former glory by experts and with a little help from McCartney.

He had attended the museum ahead of a concert at Comerica Park, where he told the screaming audience: "When I visited the Motown museum, I remembered listening to records as a kid in Liverpool, learning the songs You Really Got a Hold on Me and Money.

"I said to myself, 'Wow, this is the Holy Grail!'"

McCartney recently held two wedding receptions on both sides of the Atlantic to celebrate his wedding to Nancy Shevell.ADNFCR-2133-ID-800780930-ADNFCR Posted on 31 Oct 2011 10:33 to category : Instruments News
