Pastor appeals safe return of sentimental guitar
Posted on 15 Feb 2012 14:24 to category : Instruments News

Josh Falling, youth pastor of the United Methodist Church on Mains Street, was shocked to find that the whole place had been turned upside down.
Up to $7,000 (approximately £ £4,445) worth of items from the church were stolen, but the thing that hurt Mr Falling the most was the theft of his beloved guitar, which was of sentimental value.
The Ovation 1778 LX Elite, which is an acoustic-electric guitar hybrid, was given to the pastor when he was in his teens. It was one of the last gifts he ever received from his mother, who passed away a few months later.
"It's sad that someone would break in, they must not have the greatest morals but I think they wouldn't even understand this guitar is worth more than just getting cash or whatever," he told whec.com. "I don't think they understand what they were actually doing."
In another interview with Rochester Homepage, he said that when he played the guitar, he could feel his mother still offering him support – something he might possibly have lost.
"It just feels very strange," he said. "Like someone just took a big chunk of your life and it's painful."
The church is offering an award for information that leads to the discovery of the stolen guitar and other items.
