David Garrett to play Niccolo Paganini in a film
Paganini was a virtuoso violinst
David Garrett , the megastar classical musician who has wowed fans all over the world with his breathtaking skills, is to play one of the greatest violinists the world has have known in a new film.

Garrett, who is a master of the violin himself, will star as Niccolo Paganini, the 19th century Italian maestro who is best known for his 24 caprices, reported the Chicago Tribune.

It tells the fictional story of Paganini making a Faustian pact to become the preeminent violinist of his generation – in other words, selling his soul to the devil.

The movie will cost around $20 million (approximately £12.63 million) to make and filming is to take place around much of Europe in the summer.

"It has been a lifelong ambition to be involved in a film about my hero Niccolo Paganini," Garrett told the newspaper.

"He has a special place in my heart and to have the opportunity to bring him back to life on the big screen is an extremely exciting experience for me."

Garrett started to play the violin at the age of four and studied the instrument at the Lubeck Conservatoire.
