PJ Harvey only sings songs she believes in
The alternative, indie star told GQ that these songs were part of her youth and that she had evolved as a musician. She no longer "believes" in them.
"I find that I can only play the songs that I can sing with any authenticity still, my being a 42-year-old women" she told the magazine. "Some of the words of those songs were written when I was very young and they no longer feel honest for me to sing now at this stage in my life."
She refers to material from albums like Dry from 1992 and Rid of Me from 1993.
Harvey added that when she performed live, she wanted her fans to see a genuine performance, which could only come about if she can "inhabit" a song.
Her latest studio album is called Let England Shake.Posted on 2 Nov 2011 12:33 to category : Band / Celebrity News
