Original Van Halen sign to Interscope
Van Halen, who have just signed to Interscope Records, have reunited with David Lee Roth, on what is set to be an epic and much anticipated album.
They have not been together since they produced the hugely popular and successful 1984, which was released that same year.
It will also be the band's first album since Valen Halen III, which was released in 1998.
The album, the title of which references the fact that it was the band's third line-up, was beset with a number of problems, departures and poor sales.
An insider told the Hollywood Reporter that Interscope chairman Jimmy Iovine was heavily involved in engineering the deal to bring them to the label and central to the negotiations with the band.
"He heard the band was available and wanted to work with them. It was decided at the eleventh hour," the insider told the news provider.
"It was as complicated as anyone would imagine, when one side says black, the other says white. The label was pretty sceptical that things would work out."
