Older people 'want to learn musical instruments'
Posted on 5 Oct 2009 15:30 to category : Instruments News

Electric guitars and keyboards could be in high demand among older people this year, as they are becoming increasingly keen to take up a new hobby.
According to research by Aviva, more than one in ten people who have recently retired are keen to learn a musical instrument.
The study also showed that a similar proportion would like to indulge their love of music by attending a festival.
Other retirees were found to be slightly more daring, as nine per cent expressed a desire to go sky diving and seven per cent want to learn how to surf.
Commenting on the findings, Paul Goodwin of Aviva said they suggest younger people should look forward to their post-working life.
"The first years of retirement can be the most exciting of your life," he stated.
However, Mr Goodwin added that retirees are more likely to enjoy their new lifestyle if they have adequate financial plans in place.
This comes after research by Halifax revealed that 9.7 million people in the UK actively play a musical instrument.
