Noel Gallagher pitches in on the political debate on Newsnight
Gallagher, who is currently promoting his new album The High Flying Birds, was as honest as ever when discussing his views about the current government.
Although he was hesitant at casting his vote at the last general election, which saw none of the major parties secure a majority – hence the coalition – the singer-songwriter said he was finally persuaded by his wife to go to the booths.
"It's the first time I've just picked the most ludicrous thing on the list. Some guy dressed as a pirate – there's nothing cooler than a pirate," he said on the show.
He described being "offended" by the outcome of the election and explained the recent riots in the UK as partly the fault of the media, who bombarded young people with a lifestyle that is impossible.
Gallagher recently described Mick Jagger's new band SuperHeavy as ridiculous, although he thought he could do a better job.
"You know, me, Johnny Marr, Mani and Weller, that would be great. But just for now, this suits me well," he said.
