New music instruments and uniforms for youth brass band
A youth brass band is now jamming with new music instruments and uniforms after receiving a funding boost from a charity.
Bolton at Home, a registered charity that provides social housing, donated the money to The Kearsley Youth Brass Band as part of its Plum reward and recognition scheme.
The brass band, which was formed in February 2010, now has its very own distinct uniform, a purple polo t-shirt with their logo and name emblazoned on it.
Based at the newly-refurbished Kearsley Mount Methodist Church, the band was formed to offer young people of all abilities in the surrounding area an opportunity to receive free training on a wide range of musical instruments.
Delivered by expert professional musicians, the band has gone from strength to strength and has recently been awarded a charitable status.
Speaking to the Bolton News, band chairman Stephen Tonge said: "The charity status will give us the opportunity to access additional funding specifically provided for charities."
Bolton at Home was set up in 2002 and in 2011 took ownership of the council's 18,000 homes. With a budget of £124 million, the next five years will see the organisation delivering significant improvements to the area.
