New Jeff Beck album pairs electric guitars with orchestra
Posted on 20 Jan 2010 13:22 to category : Music News

Grammy award-winning electric guitar player Jeff Beck has enlisted the help of a 64-piece orchestra for some of the tracks on his new album.
His Emotion and Connection record, which is set to be released on April 13th 2010, contains a series of wide-ranging covers, from Somewhere Over The Rainbow to I Put A Spell On You.
Electric guitar player Beck said that the idea for the album came after recording a version of Gustav Mahler's Symphony No 5 with an orchestra a few years ago.
"What appealed to me instead was the idea of bringing together these seemingly contradictory sounds on different kinds of non-classical music," he explained.
Emotion and Connection also features guest vocals from Joss Stone, Imelda May and Olivia Safe.
Beck has recently announced a series of UK tour dates for October 2010.
The tour will begin with a show in Bournemouth before taking in Birmingham, Manchester and Glasgow, with the final performance being held in London's Royal Albert Hall.
