Neil Young looks to the future

Neil Young has said that he will never perform a live gig and just play his old songs.

The electric guitar player - who famously performs with a Gibson Les Paul nicknamed Old Black - said he has always been forward-looking.

As a result, he is not prepared to simply regurgitate songs from his older albums when he goes out and performs.

"The new songs make me believe in myself - that I'm still doing something relevant," Young told the Gibson website.

Indeed, he said new material enables him to express the way he feels today, rather than how he felt at some point in the past.

However, Neil Young fans can attend his shows knowing that while they while they hear new material on each occasion, the old classics will not be overlooked.

The singer-songwriter performed in London at the weekend, delivering a set which included songs such as Rockin' in the Free World and Hey Hey My My.
