Neil Peart named Drummer of the Year
Rush star Neil Peart has won the Drummer of the Year prize from Drum Magazine for the fourth year in a row.
In the publication's annual 'Drummies', Peart was voted by fans as the best player of a drum kit, ahead of the likes of Blink 182's Travis Barker and Mike Portnoy from Dream Theater, reports the Gibson website.
Peart is set to go on a world tour with Rush next year, with fans in the UK and Ireland having the opportunity to see the band play live in May.
They are set to perform in cities including Dublin, Manchester, Sheffield, Birmingham and London.
Blink star Barker did manage to pick up the awards for Best Progressive Rock Drummer and Punk Drummer, while Portnoy was named the top Progressive Rock Drummer.
Other winners included Foo Fighters star Dave Grohl, who was given the honour of Alternative Rock Drummer.
