Nas: My track with Amy Winehouse is bittersweet
The rapper, famous for his verbal battles with Jay-Z, said in an interview with World Star Hip Hop that he was happy with his creative imput on Like Smoke, which he recorded with Winehouse before she died.
However, there was a lot of sadness because of her untimely and tragic death at the age of 27.
"It's a bittersweet feeling to do something with her now that she's not her," he told the hip-hop news provider.
"I'm happy…the sweet part is that we do have the music, fans have new music for her."
Nas, who was once married to R&B queen Kelis, added that it was a shame that the track would never be performed live.
The song features on the posthumous album Amy Winehouse Lioness: Hidden Treasures.
He went on to talk about his memories of working with the British singer.
"She was hilarious, man. She would make you laugh. To her, music came so easy," he said.
"To everyone else, I guess around her, I don't know this but I'm assuming that they wanted her to put out a new record."
Nas' first platinum selling album was It Was Written, which was released back in 1996.
