Based on the on the original Ashula bass, this unique entry into Ibanez's 2017 line up has been designed to benefit those who want the best of both worlds. The fretless board is constructed out of purpleheart whereas the fretted board is constructed out of rosewood, complimenting the bass with two distinct tonal properties that lend to its versatile nature. With its mixture of tone woods the SRAS7 is also able to effectively encourage smooth and transient string vibration to the body making the basses intonation exceptionally precise.
Due to the the basses respective radius' applied to each fret board (950mm Fretted, 0mm Fretless) the player can make the most of the strings at their disposal and play a variety of different chords. With chords that span over the two fret boards of the bass, the player can expect a distinctive combination of tones that contributes to an overall definitive sound.
Equipped with dual electronics the bass presents the player with two distinct tonal and dynamic options. The SRAS Super J pickups (fretted) provide a clear, bright and rich tone whereas the Aerosilk Piezo system (fretless) provides a warm and measured sound reminiscent of an upright bass.
Another innovative addition to this curious instrument is the Mono-Rail V Bridge, which offers an extremely wide range of intonation with each independent saddle providing maximum string vibration without any external interference.
