NAMM 2013: Fender Add To American Vintage Series With Jazz and Precision Bass Guitars
Common features across the latest additions include chrome bridge and pickup covers, with the Jazz Bass bridge cover carrying the highly recognisable 'F' stamp.
The '58 Precision Bass starts with a lightweight Alder body carrying a thick Maple neck, with Maple fingerboard to match. Vintage-inspired touches on the frets and bridge with threaded-steel 'barrel' saddles ensure the '58 has added magic.
Moving half a decade forward, Fender arrive at the '63 Precision Bass. An important time in Precision Bass history, this era saw the arrival of the round-laminated Rosewood fingerboard. The slightly wider 'C' neck makes for comfortability on this model, with other authentic features including clay-coloured dot inlays and a subtle three-ply mint green pickguard.
The Vintage Jazz Bass guitars also see Fender re-imagining the concept of the re-issue. The '64 features vintage-accurate positioning and new American Vintage '64 Jazz Bass single-coil pickups, with the Lake Placid Blue with matching headstock colour option drawing particular interest.
Changes in the design of the Jazz Bass are marked with the American Vintage '74, available with a Maple or Rosewood Fingerboard. A repositioned bridge pickup and new 'U'-shaped neck profile with walnut 'skunk' stripe were first shown on by Fender in '74 and the latest reincarnation stays loyal to these features.
Available in a range of colours, Fender present pivotal design elements in the new range with a modern spin, preserving their legacy with an added relevance for the coming years.
