Myspace turns to online TV
Music superstar Justin Timberlake, who has been busy establishing himself as a serious actor with commanding performances in movies like the Social Network, revealed that Myspace was looking to become a multimedia company.
Speaking at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES), Timberlake, who is co-owner of the once popular website – which is still relatively well-liked with musicians – explained that Myspace is rebranding and moving into real-time television and online discussion.
"The future of Myspace is about what you're going to do. About who you're going to become," he said.
"Myspace TV is the first foray into that future."
What this will involve is staggering. It will be made up of the website's extensive library of 42 million songs and around 100,000 plus music videos, all with a touch of social media.
"We're ready to take television and entertainment to the next step by upgrading it to the social networking experience," Timberlake said.
