My Chemical Romance regain spirit
Posted on 23 Sep 2010 16:30 to category : Music News

My Chemical Romance say the "spirit" has come back to their band.
The 'Teenagers' rockers are preparing to release their fourth album, 'Danger Days: The True Lives Of The Fabulous Killjoys', later this year and frontman Gerard Way acknowledges it was a difficult process and all of the band's members were feeling low when they initially went to record the album.
He told Britain's Radio 1: "It was so bad - the vibe wasn't good. But now the spirit - it's back. It took a little while to figure out who and what the band is and re-embrace that, as opposed to turn our back on it."
He also said the band's first single from the album, 'Na Na Na (Na Na Na Na Na Na Na Na Na Na Na Na Na Na Na)' was the turning point in the writing process.
He added: "Everything up to that point, it felt like we'd kind of been in this kind of hiatus. As artists that really equals death.
"Then 'Na Na Na' happened - all of sudden there was this big intensity underneath us. It was the momentum that we needed to dig deep and record another album."
"That was the moment when we said, 'This song changes everything, we're starting right over right now'. It was so exciting.
"We all feel like we get to start our lives again now - it's been a long time."
My Chemical Romance also suffered the loss of drummer Bob Bryar earlier this year, who is yet to be replaced. The group's fourth album will follow up 2006's 'The Black Parade'.
