Musikmesse 2014: Toontrack, Arturia and SSL Plug-Ins Round Up
Toontrack revealed EZdrummer 2, which arrives 8 years after the original EZdrummer. New features include two vintage and modern kits with libraries including elements from Gretsch, Yamaha, Ludwig, Tama and more.
Loading times have been improved and there's real-time sample rate conversion. EZdrummer 2 also has enhanced flexibility, so you can use seperate elements from the EZX libraries.
SSL have announced three new plug-ins, complimenting the Duende Native plug-in range. The X-Phase, X-Saturator and X-ValveComp plug-ins are due to be available in May 2014.
Useful for fixing phase issues with mics, the X-Phase is an all-pass filter that gives the user manual control, enabling you to apply phase shift at a specific frequency within the signal, with gain remaining unchanged.
The X-Saturator provides a range of analog-style distortion effects. Simple Harmonics, Depth, Drive and Headroom controls allow you to adjust parameters, and the X-Saturator can be automated with standard DAW Automation data.
A fully-featured mono or stereo channel compressoe, the X-ValveComp has a full set of classic channel compressor controls and a valve emulation stage. The compressor can be switched between Peak or RMS modes and is fully-featured with standard controls.
Arturia's Vox Continental-V for Mac and PC sees the return of the vintage sixties Vox Continental organ. Available from Arturia's online store, the plug-in emulates the sounds used on tracks like The Doors' 'Light My Fire' and 'House of the Rising Sun' by The Animals.
