Posted on 24 Mar 2010 09:13 to category : Instruments News

Yamaha is launching a new range of BB bass guitars after the success of the super BB, revealed at Musikmesse 2010.
Long the bass of choice for some of the world's best know players including Nathan East, Michael Anthony, Marco Mendoza, Glenn Hughes, Geezer Butler and Duff McKagan.
Yamaha BB is known for incredible sound, great playability and classic, vintage inspired looks.
When the Super-BB launched in 2009 the bar was raised, with Yamaha launching a bass designed for today's pro rock players a no compromise passive, bolt-on bass designed to meet the needs of the most demanding rock bass players on the planet.
For 2010, Yamaha is launching a new range of BB basses boasting exclusive features developed for the Super-BB, making the ultimate passive rock bass accessible to every bassist.
The BB1024 is the production brother of the custom shop, no-holds-barred Super-BB.
Featuring the same spline-jointed 3-piece body construction, designed to sound the same as a single piece of wood, and a new 5-ply maple/nato laminated neck, the building blocks of the Super-BB sound are present and correct.
Super-BB's custom wound pickups, developed by Yamaha's Hollywood custom shop, with a warm, rich alnico split coil and powerful, punchy ceramic blade pickup, feature on BB1024 as does the new Vintage Plus bridge.
With its stainless steel baseplate and brass saddles for the perfect combination of brightness and sustain.
Super-BB's revolutionary 45-degree Mitre Stringing, for improved string tension, tone and stability is fitted as standard and BB1024's hardware package is rounded off with pro-spec chrome hardware, 3 new finishes and a fitted gigbag supplied as standard.
BB1024 is also available with the new BB scratchplate (as the 'X' version) and in a 5-string configuration as BB1025.
Completing the new BB range, the BB424 brings the Super-BB design brief of the ultimate passive bolt-on bass to an incredibly affordable pricepoint.
Incorporating Super-BB construction touches like the 5-ply laminated neck and 45-degree Mitre Stringing into the massively successful BB400 series basses.
With solid alder bodies, custom wound pickups and gig-ready hardware the BB424 is a truly affordable bass designed to capture the spirit of the new Yamaha BB's the perfect bass for today's rock players.
