Musikmesse 2010: Shure PSM 900 In-Ear Monitering System makes its European debut
Posted on 24 Mar 2010 09:03 to category : Instruments News

Shure debut there newest in-ear monitering system PSM 900 first used on stage by the who for there half time performance at this years superbowl, revealed at Musikmesse 2010.
This was my first time using the PSM 900 at a major event, and it performed flawlessly, noted James Stoffo, Entertainment RF Engineer and 'wireless guru'.
After the event. 'I'd be happy to see this system on any of my shows as the go-to in-ear system.
With exceptional audio quality, robust RF performance and innovative features allowing for ease of use and quick setup, PSM 900 is the ideal solution for demanding events, touring and installation.
The system will be available in spring 2010. Perfect complements to PSM 900 are the SE425 and SE535, two new professional, sound isolating earphones that will become available in spring 2010 as well.
Clear and accurate audio - Using an enhanced digital stereo encoder, PSM 900 provides a wider stereo field with exceptional L/R separation for enhanced detail and clarity usually lost in an in-ear monitoring system.
The patented Shure Audio Reference Companding, also used in the premium wireless microphone system UHF-R, provides pure in-ear sound as close to wired as possible.
Robust RF performance - The P9T transmitter vastly reduces frequency intermodulation, allowing for up to 20 compatible channels to operate simultaneously on one (36 MHz) frequency band.
Advanced filtering significantly reduces RF interference for a cleaner, stronger RF signal, fewer dropouts, and less audible artifacts.
Automatic RF Gain Control detects any spikes in RF signal and seamlessly reduces RF sensitivity to protect against RF overload.
Ease of use and setup - The patent-pending CueMode feature allows monitoring up to 20 different stage mixes on a single bodypack with the touch of a button.
Sound engineers can now simply hear what the performer hears, without the need for any additional equipment.
Simon Higgs, monitor engineer for The Who, is a big fan of CueMode. 'Basically, CueMode lets me hear any monitor mix with a button-push.
It saves me so much time and trouble, and really shows this system was designed for monitor engineers.
An RF Mute Switch functions as the 'do not disturb' RF Button.
Ideal for festivals and multi-venue events, this front-panel switch on the P9T transmitter enables or disables RF transmission, allowing setup operation without disrupting the RF environment.
PSM 900 also comes with the thinnest available, all metal bodypack receiver for high wearing comfort and minimal visibility.
MixMode enables the performer to easily control volume and balance for the optimal, individual mix.
A simplified user interface with fast access to controls, an LCD menu structure similar to UHF-R Wireless Systems, and Scan & Sync functionality round out PSM 900?s profile as one of the most easy-to-use systems in its class.
New Sound Isolating Earphones - As a first from Shure for use with in-ear monitoring on stage, the SE535 utilizes Triple High Definition MicroDrivers a dedicated tweeter and dual woofers for spacious sound and rich bass.
Featuring Dual High Definition Drivers, the SE425 uses a dedicated tweeter and woofer for accurate and balanced sound.
The combination of a new ergonomic form factor, cable with formable wire and a wide assortment of accessories ensure a secure, comfortable fit.
In addition, the cables are both lockable for a safe connection while in use as well as detachable for easy replacement, extending the life of your investment.
Both earphones come with a wide assortment of accessories including sound isolating sleeves in multiple sizes for up to 30 dB of isolation from ambient noise.
