Charity campaigner Bob Geldof and DJ Armin Van Buuren have signed up to be among the first 100 people aboard the first commercial space flight.

Tickets for the Space Expedition Corporation's flight are said to cost £64,000 per ticket, and will send passengers 62 miles into space.

Bob Geldof will be among the 100, starting his training for the flight this weekend, which involves spending time in a space flight simulator in the Netherlands.

Space tourist Geldof has said, "The first rock astronaut space rat! Wild! Who would have thought it possible in my lifetime."

Dutch producer and DJ Armin van Buuren, who's reported to have earned 17 million dollars this year, is also on the list of aspiring astronauts.

Speaking about the flight earlier this year, Van Buuren said, "For every DJ, it's a dream to travel 3.5 times faster than their own sound! I guess a 200 BPM heart rate is likely." He'll be the first DJ in space.
