Musicians offered career development opportunity
Posted on 23 Dec 2009 20:00 to category : Instruments News

People who play instruments such as guitars, keyboards and drum kits are being offered the chance to plan for a career in the music industry.
The HRH Prince of Wales Advanced Study Awards in Music, which are now running for their fourth year, have been set up to offer ambitious musicians support and training.
Applicants who are accepted onto the scheme will receive funding that enables them to pursue postgraduate studies in their field of expertise.
Nick Capaldi, chief executive of the Arts Council of Wales, believes these awards could make a big difference to young musicians and help them achieve their potential.
"Having been a musician myself, I know just how important it is to provide development opportunities for aspiring professionals," he commented.
The postgraduate studies will take place in a recognised institution during the next academic year. Successful applicants will benefit from £35,000 of funding overall.
Among last year's winners were Oliver Browne, who has gone on to study the tuba at the Royal College of Music in London, and Sara Roberts, who is studying the viola at Lucerne University in Switzerland.
