Musicians hoping to inspire an interest in their music instruments
Two musicians are hoping to bring greater attention to their music instruments at a concert in Edmonton.
Daniel Gervais and Lizzy Hoyt will showcase their musical expertise when they take to the stage to perform in a show called the Genius of Violin at the Convocation Hall this evening (July 15th), reported the Edmonton Journal.
Both are hoping to woo the crowds with the mastery over the violin and fiddle and bring attention to the versatility of these music instruments in composing melodious sounds.
Speaking to the newspaper, Ms Hoyt said that they were both excited about the evening and looking forward to trying to revive "some of the other cultural traditions" that are important to Canadian music.
She said: "The traditions of violin and fiddle music often seem very divided and it’s rare that they meet together.
"We’re not crossing over between styles, but presenting them side-by-side with a little bit of a narrative or discussion to show how they have evolved together."
The evening will see the musicians explore a range of music, from medieval Celtic tunes to baroque composers to folk dance styles.
One of the great modern day violinists passed away last week. Josef Suk was known for his warm interpretations of some of the great classical pieces.
