Musician to road test plastic saxophone
Ray Manzerolle, who is accustomed to whipping out delightful tunes on a brass saxophone, will give the new innovative instrument a blast at the Art Gallery of Windsor, reported the Edmonton Journal.
"There are lots of things bad about it, but lots of things that are good, too," he said.
"There is some mushiness in the sound. But if you know what you are doing, you can turn it to your advantage."
There instrument was designed by Piyapat Thanyakij in Thailand a few years ago and is the first ever polycarbonate saxophone.
Although the design is still in its infancy, with Manzerolle making his own little amendments to it, the lightweight object could be a hit with school children and marching band members who have to carry around the usually heavy instrument.
An aspiring young musician was recently banned from getting on his bus in Massachusetts because his saxophone was deemed a health hazard.
