Musical video games 'helping to improve electric guitar sales'
Posted on 12 Aug 2010 13:55 to category : Instruments News

More people are opting to pick up musical instruments as a result of playing computer games such as Guitar Hero, a new survey has suggested.
According to research from insurance company Musicguard, 45 per cent of those questioned said they had played the game, with around one in ten then going on to buy a real instrument after being inspired to try the real thing.
James Pickering, Musicguard's managing director, told MI-Pro that the video game has helped to make electric guitars "inspirational again" to a new generation of musicians.
"We've certainly noticed a difference in terms of the number of enquiries we get from people looking to insure new guitars," he stated.
But earlier this year, Jack White told NME that youngsters should look to pick up a real musical instrument rather than relying on computer games.
He said he finds it depressing that Guitar Hero is the way that many people are now learning about and experiencing music.
