Musical instruments 'in demand this Christmas'
Posted on 12 Nov 2009 12:00 to category : Instruments News

Musical instruments such as pianos, trumpets and electric guitars look set to be snapped up by festive shoppers this Christmas.
According to a survey by PRS for Music, more than one in three people in the UK would like to learn the piano.
Meanwhile, 14 per cent said they aspire to play the trumpet, and 13 per cent expressed an interest in the electric guitar, reports Mi-Pro.
The findings have been welcomed by Ellis Rich, chairman of PRS for Music, who said a musical instrument can be one of the most rewarding presents that can ever be offered.
"Seventy per cent of the population regret not learning a musical instrument," he observed.
Acoustic guitars also made it into the top ten, along with keyboards and drum kits.
The list was rounded out with more brass and orchestral instruments, such as the flute, cello, violin and saxophone.
This comes after research by the University of Zurich found that playing a musical instrument can help to boost a person's intelligence.
