The show, which will air on Saturday evenings, is a competition to win a recording contract, according to a BBC media pack.
Sir Tom Jones, Will.i.am of the Black Eyed Peas, MOBO-winning pop star Jessie J and Danny O'Donoghue (The Script) will all be involved.
It starts with a 'blind audition' stage in which singers are selected by these four, who take the role of 'coaches'.
Coaches pick a singer they like by hitting a button. However, while listening to the song they will be turned away from the contestant. Eventually viewers will be able to pick a favourite singer via a telephone vote.
Sir Tom Jones has said: "I wanted to look for someone who had an emotional voice and right from the start, my game plan was to press the buzzer if I felt a person had a strong voice - as I knew they wouldn't always pick me to be their coach. I am so pleased with the team I have ended up with."
Devised in Holland, The Voice is already globally popular, according to the BBC. It will air on BBC One.
Music instrument fans will be pleased to know that singing information has already started to appear in video form on the programme's website, including clips called 'Can anyone learn to sing?' and 'How to improve your voice'.
