Music charity spends gifted money on music instruments
Youth Music Service, which was only set up in June this year, aims to plug the widening gap in music education as the local council has had to reduce funding to music teaching in cost-cutting measures, reported the York Press
Alison Goffin, director of Youth Music Service, said: "We're so grateful for this money, as it means we've been able to buy two trumpets, two flutes and two clarinets, that we will be able to loan for free to students that otherwise would not be able to afford them."
She added that in only the second week of term they had over 200 students taking lessons.
"With more signing up all the time we'll need to be able to lay our hands on as many instruments as we can," Ms Goffin told the news provider.
The Muziksev Museum in Turkey has experienced a similar act of goodwill. It has extended its archive of music instruments after receiving kind donations from people across the country.
