Music charity gets cash boost
Base to Beat, which is based in Rotherham, was presented with a cheque of £78,345 by Children in Need, the popular annual charity appeal, reported the BBC.
The charity now aims to invest that money in developing its services, with a large part of the cash going towards funding a worker to engage with aspiring youngsters aged between 13 and 19.
One of the youngsters, Ben, who uses the project for his band rehearsals, told the news provider: "We are recording an LP at the moment, we write our own songs and I've been writing since I was about 12.
"Base to Beat gives the band the option to record some of our music and we don't have to pay for it, the equipment is really good and the staff are great."
Children in Need, which began in 1980, has so far raised £500 million. Its logo is a yellow teddy bear with an eye patch known as Pudsey Bear.
