Muse to donate music equipment worth £15,000 to Plymouth University
The kind gesture from the band will mean that students will get their hand on the latest, hi-tech and innovative music equipment – the equivalent of what is used by top musicians in the industry.
Muse chose the university because they have a close link with Devon, with all members having attended Teignmouth Community College in the 1990s.
Professor David Coslett, dean of the Faculty of Arts, told the BBC: "We are proud to be associated with the band, given their significant contribution to contemporary popular music and their links to the south-west and the university."
The band are currently celebrating the tenth anniversary of their seminal album Origin of Symmetry.
A spokesman for the band said they were "delighted to provide this equipment and hope it will inspire students to go on and create great music for years to come."
