Muse song wins guitar riff accolade
The best electric guitar riff of the 21st century is contained in Muse song Plug in Baby, a new poll has stated.
In a survey carried out by Total Guitar magazine, the track was named ahead of Slither by Velvet Revolver and Avenged Sevenfold's Afterlife.
Stephen Lawson, editor of the publication, said: "I think Muse won because Matt Bellamy is a guitar hero for the 21st century.
"He's genuinely innovative, a real creative type who comes up with unique guitar parts."
Muse had another song in the top ten, with Knights of Cydonia appearing in fifth place.
There were also places close to the top of the chart for indie anthems such as No One Knows by Queens of the Stone Age, Mr Brightside by The Killers and The White Stripes's Seven Nation Army.
Muse are currently on tour in the US and have several dates planned in Australia for December.
