Mumford and Sons to headline London's Olympic Park
The band revealed that they will be playing at London's Olympic Park on July 6th and it marks the first gig to be hosted at the renovated site which held the 2012 Games.
Support will come in the form of Vampire Weekend, Ben Howard, Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeroes, Haim and Bear's Den. All the bands have been hand-picked by Mumford and Sons.
Speaking about the show, multi-instrumentalist Ben Lovett told NME: "We wanted to do something special, more than just another arena date. So when the opportunity to do this came about and the opportunity to pick a line-up of bands we really feel strongly about, we were naturally pretty excited."
It has been a highly successful past 12 months for the band with their latest record Babel going to number one in both the UK Albums Charts and US Billboard 200.
Mumford and Sons also claimed a Brit Award for Best British Group and will be headlining this year's Glastonbury festival alongside fellow bill-toppers The Rolling Stones and Arctic Monkeys.
Tickets for the London Olympic Park show go on sale on April 19th at 9am priced from £57.50.
