Movie 'shows contrasts between top electric guitar players'
Led Zeppelin's Jimmy Page has collaborated with The Edge of U2 and Jack White from The White Stripes on It Might Get Loud.
The Kansas City Star stated that while Page is undoubtedly the "master" of the legendary trio, the film shows White and The Edge try to "stake out their own territories".
Indeed, the U2 guitarist was said to be depicted in the film as a big fan of technology and guitar effects pedals.
By contrast, White was described by the newspaper as a purist who believes technology can destroy the emotion generated by a raw electric guitar sound.
"Give him a guitar, no matter how beat up [or] out of tune, and he'll find a way to make it sing," the publication said.
White's attitude to technology was further highlighted when he spoke out against products such as Guitar Hero, saying it is "depressing" to have a record label tell him that youngsters are now learning about music through video games.
