Moog synthesizers 'are the most iconic of all time'
Posted on 3 Aug 2010 11:03 to category : Instruments News

Moog instruments have been lauded as the "most iconic synthesizers of all time".
According to an article by Guardian writer David McNamee, Moog synthesizers have played a huge role in the history of electronic music, with the equipment coming with an enduring legacy and appeal.
He explained that Dr Robert Moog invented the analogue synth as we know it back in the 1960s when he used voltage to control noise levels, as well as the frequency of pitch-generating oscillators.
"Though technically ingenious and historically significant, what we really love Moogs for is their sound," said Mr McNamee.
He explained that Moog synthesizers have an easily identifiable sound, whether being used to create "quirky, kitsch and cute, or pulverising" music.
Earlier this year, a Moog Voyager synthesizer was used by one of George Michael's backing musicians - keyboard player Luke Smith - when the singer went on a tour of Australia, reported MI-Pro.
