Montrose Academy boosted by instrument donation
Montrose Academy's music department has been bestowed with a number of different instruments following a generous donation from a terminally-ill man from the Ferryden area near to the school, the Montrose Review reports.
Keith Coleman, who is suffering from cancer, provided two guitars, an amplifier, music books, and sheet notation as well as a large collection of musical DVDs to the pupils who are studying the subject at the Scottish school.
The academy gratefully accepted the donation with Peter Allan, principal teacher of expressive arts, telling the news provider that it was a "generous gift".
"I am sure that many pupils, for many years to come, are going to benefit greatly from all the resources that Mr Coleman has kindly donated to the music department," Mr Allan went on to say.
MontroseAcademy has been within the heart of the Scottish town since 1815 and currently has 850 pupils, according to figures at the start of the 2012/13 academic year.
