Modern-day Guns N' Roses draws criticism
Posted on 25th Sep 2009 14:00 to category Band / Celebrity News
Axl Rose's efforts to keep Guns N' Roses going without electric guitar player Slash have been criticised.
According to the New Zealand Herald, the band made a "chart-storming" debut with their 1987 classic Appetite for Destruction.
However, the newspaper said their subsequent Use Your Illusion albums marked the beginning of a dysfunctional period for Axl and co.
Indeed, electric guitar player Slash and bassist Duff McKagan left in the late 1990's and the band has been through numerous line-ups in subsequent years.
The New Zealand Herald included today's version of Guns N' Roses in its list of the top ten worst band reunions, as the current line-up only has one original member.
Slash, McKagan and drummer Matt Sorum went on to form Velvet Revolver, with Stone Temple Pilots singer Scott Weiland on vocals.
However, the group are currently without a vocalist after Weiland's recent departure, and Slash is currently recording a solo album due to be released next year.
