Mick Ronson 'used Les Paul guitar to great effect for David Bowie'
Posted on 16 Jun 2010 14:05 to category : Music News

Mick Ronson's use of a Les Paulguitar was one of the key components in much of David Bowie's best music, it has been claimed.
Writing on the Gibson website, music journalist Russell Hall stated that Bowie had a knack of finding brilliant guitarists to work alongside him figures such as Stevie Ray Vaughan and Robert Fripp.
He noted that Ronson was one of Bowie's most important collaborators, making a cameo appearance on the Space Oddity album, before really making his mark on The Man Who Sold The World.
"Using little more than his trusty Les Paul and a wah pedal, the late guitar great went on to become the propulsive force behind all of Bowie's Ziggy-era recordings," the writer said.
Earlier this year, it was announced that a covers album featuring a variety of artists playing Bowie songs is to be released in aid of War Child.
Among the acts to contribute were MGMT, Vivian Girls and Duran Duran.
