Metallica 'to go into studio later this year'
Metallica are likely to go into the studio soon after beginning work on their next album in March or April.
The plan was revealed by Lars Ulrich, the man behind the drum kit in the legendary group, in an interview with Danish newspaper Ekstra Bladet, reports NME.
While the metal band have traditionally left large gaps between albums, work on a new record is set to start a relatively short time after the release of 2008's Death Magnetic.
Ulrich said the reason for this is because the band are getting on well and want to continue the good vibe they have at the moment by creating new music together.
"In the past, we would be fed up with Metallica whenever we returned home after a gigantic world tour, but this time it's different," the drummer explained.
The electric guitar band are set to play in the UK later this year, appearing at the Sonisphere Festival on July 8th on the same bill as fellow metal heavyweights Slayer, Megadeth and Anthrax.
Other acts on the line-up for the weekend bash at Knebworth include Biffy Clyro, Slipknot, Weezer, Motorhead and In Flames.
