br /> Sir Paul McCartney has revealed that he deliberately tinkers his live set to allow him to play electric guitar on occasion.

The legendary musician achieved fame playing bass guitar in The Beatles, and still mainly plays this instrument during his live performances today.

However, Sir Paul has achieved a reputation as a multi-instrumentalist, with many of his solo albums seeing him play everything from piano to drums.

This is reflected in his live performances, and in an interview with USA Today, he said he deliberately arranges the set to allow him to play these various instruments.

"I fancy playing electric guitar, so I work in a couple of excuses for that," he commented.

Indeed, his most recent gig at the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival saw him play electric guitar on songs such as Let Me Roll It and I've Got A Feeling, while he also played an acoustic guitar on tracks including Eleanor Rigby and Yesterday.
