Massive Attack's scrapped album
Posted on 29 Jan 2010 07:30 to category : Band / Celebrity News

Massive Attack scrapped some new material because of internet leaks.
The 'Teardrop' hitmakers, who are soon to release their first album in seven years 'Heligoland', admitted they wrote an album and a half worth of material that they had to bin.
Robert Del Naja, one half of the dynamic chart toppers, said: "We wrote some new songs before we went on tour in 2008. It was just a case of coming back and mixing them.
"But we became victims of leaks on YouTube. Everyone had heard everything before it was released. It just seemed slightly tired."
Discussing their collaboration with Blur frontman Damon Albarn, Del Naja claimed that the song they created, 'Saturday Come Slow', changed the feel of the album.
He said: "It changed everything. It was a different energy and a different environment. We started to strip everything back and build it back up again.
"That feels like the start of what the album is now."
He added: "This record has a very communal feel. The first incarnation didn't have that. After we went into Damon's studio it began to feel rounded."
