Mark Ronson's serious music
Posted on 15 Jul 2010 10:00 to category : Music News

Mark Ronson wants to be taken more seriously as a musician.
The award-winning producer says he's had enough of being seen as just a celebrity DJ, so he has attached new band name The Business International to his latest work to show his desire.
He said: "Some people might have seen my lifestyle in magazines and thought, 'Oh he just DJs at lame celeb parties,' but most of the time it is work. It's great work, but still working.
"I spend 14 hours a day doing this s**t, so I mean business. That's how the band came about. There's also something about it being a bunch of serious individuals."
Mark says he wanted the new LP to be different from his last one, 'Version', because there were so many more people involved with making it.
He told the Daily Star newspaper: "On my last album I was playing most of the instruments myself except for the horns. This new album was four of five of us going to the studio every day, a real collective effort. I wanted that represented by the title.
"I didn't want Mark Ronson and the Laptops. I liked The Business because it sounded strong and tough. And we had to add International as there was another band called The Business."
