Mark Ronson's 'intimidating' new album

Mark Ronson admits singing on his new 'Record Collection' album was a challenging experience, he thinks he did a pretty good job.

Mark Ronson found singing on his new album an "intimidating" experience.

The music producer - who covered songs by the likes of Coldplay, Radiohead and The Zutons on his second record 'Versions' - has revealed he thinks he did a "decent impression" of more experienced singers on his upcoming album 'Record Collection' .

He told Digital Spy: "It was pretty intimidating and it was pretty challenging too. I've been going to see a vocal coach for about six months though, so I was a little bit primed for it.

"I'd written a song with Jonathan from The Drums and he wasn't available to sing it, so I just thought I'd try it. When Jonathan played it to his band, they thought it was him singing, so I obviously did a decent impression!"

The 'Stop Me' hitmaker - who rose to fame DJing in hip hop clubs in New York - admitted his new album is a return to the sound of his first LP 'Here Comes The Fuzz', as he worried he was becoming "extremely synonymous with a certain sound".

Mark said: "It's a return to the spirit and attitude. It probably does have more in common with 'Here Comes The Fuzz' than 'Version'.

"I was definitely aware of being extremely synonymous with a certain sound - there's this running punchline of Mark Ronson and his Merry Band of Trumpeteers or whatever. Most artists are pretty thin-skinned whatever they have you believe."
