Mark Ronson's haircut mishap
Posted on 26 Aug 2010 16:30 to category : Music News

Mark Ronson had no luck with haircuts when he was younger.
The 'Bang Bang Bang' hitmaker - who unveiled a new platinum blonde look this week - recounted how he tried his best to model himself on Duran Duran's John Taylor as a youngster, but his barber never listened.
Speaking at the Creators Project, for which he recently played a session in London, Mark explained: "Duran Duran were the first band I remember having a sticker book of.
"I moved to new York when I was nine and there was one dude that cut everyone's hair in a ten block radius. You just went there and he put the bowl on your head and everyone got the same.
"One I went there, sat on the chair, showed him a picture of John Taylor from a fanzine and said 'can you do something like this?' and he was like 'yeah, sure kid' and just got his bowl out like before.
"That day I was walking home with my mum and she was like, 'why are you in such a mood?' and I said, 'Because I showed him a picture of John Taylor and I look like Nick Rhodes'."
The 34-year-old producer has recently, however, found himself in the position to be working alongside his former idols, and also explained his attitude in the studio toward them.
He added: "The whole thing about the new Duran Duran album was getting them to return to using all the old keyboards and stuff.
"At one end it's all analogue with all these old Rolands and very manual sequencing, then we record into computers. My stance is always across the best of analog and then using technology to do it."
Mark's third album, 'Record Collection' recorded under the name Mark Ronson & The Business Intl will be released on September 27.
