Mark Ballas, a professional ballroom dancer who is famous for his performances on the US version of Dancing with the Stars, has had his acoustic guitar stolen from his car.

Ballas, 25, was even more upset as the acoustic guitar was his first ever.

On his Twitter page, which has a picture of him with his guitar, the dancing star tweeted: "2 precious things were stolen from me in a week... My Breitling watch and now my car just got broken into and my first martin guitar was taken."

Following on from that tweet, Ballas, who was clearly attached to his precious acoustic guitar, said his goodbyes to the music instrument: "You were my favourite...Hope you get pawned to an owner that will play you well...I'll miss you bud."

However, there was a slight bit of optimism in the air. In a video posted on the celebrity website TMZ.com, Ballas told reporters that if anyone found themselves in possession of the guitar, he would double the price.

It hasn't been a good time for the smooth dancer. Only last month he split up with his girlfriend Pia Toscano, who is famous for being the one of American Idol's most shocking eliminations – everyone thought she would win season ten.
