Mariah Carey for American Idol

Fox revealed the news to the world recently. Carey has commented: "I am so excited to be joining Idol".
Music stars to come out of American Idol include Kelly Clakson, the show's first winner.
She went on to success with the likes of well-known singles My Life Would Suck Without You and Since U Been Gone. Her more recent hits have included Strong (What Doesn't Kill You) and Mr Know It All, from her album Stronger.
Until recently, Jennifer Lopez – the woman behind hits like Jenny from the Block and I'm Real was a judge on the series, as was Steven Tyler from I Don't Want to Miss a Thing electric guitar band Aerosmith.
However, neither of these two are set to appear on the upcoming series of the show, which will feature Carey.
American Idol appears on the ITV2 channel in the UK.
