Man makes nine foot drum
Neil Boumpani, a percussionist, has made a nine foot base drum that certainly packs a loud punch, reported Macon.com.
It took Mr Boumpani, who also spends his time custom-making drums on a normal scale, four months of hard labour to work out just how to make a musical instrument on such a huge scale.
The project came about when he got a call from a fraternity at the University of Missouri asking if he would be up to the challenge of trumping their existing six-foot drum, which they have named Big MO.
The 55-year-old told the online news provider that he was overwhelmed by the request. However, it didn't take him long to say "Why not?"
“If you want to make a statement, take a job other people don't want and do something with it," he added.
The fibre-glass, metallic-black drum has cost a whopping $50,000 (approximately £32,034) to make.
In other related news, Roland recently announced another two additions to its distinguished V-Drum series.
