Lou Reed makes Gibson's top guitarists list
Posted on 25 May 2010 15:43 to category : Band / Celebrity News

Lou Reed is among the latest artists to feature in Gibson's countdown of the 50 greatest guitar players of all time.
The musical instrument manufacturer has published the names of the musicians in places 40 to 31, including Frank Zappa, Bo Diddley and Slash.
Reed took 38th place in the poll, with Gibson stating that few other guitar players in history have managed to capture the essence of rock 'n' roll as well as him.
"With the Velvet Underground, Reed employed imaginative tunings, controlled feedback and white-hot harmonics to put a wallop in the band's most adventurous songs," it said.
It was added that Reed continued to show off his skills with the musical instrument during his solo recordings, which were marked by "dazzling rhythm and careful attention to tone".
Earlier this week, places 50 to 41 were revealed, with the likes of Nirvana frontman Kurt Cobain, former Red Hot Chili Peppers' star John Frusciante and Pink Floyd guitarist David Gilmour on that part of the list.
